TEDxNewYork 2019 will bring together some of the most brilliant minds New York has to offer.

In 2019, we want to bring worlds together; to open conversations and connect differing opinions; sharpen existing ones; or offer a wider understanding.

In a time when perspective is defining opinion, let’s challenge our perspective.

Planet Earth Pajama Party!

Come 'PaJAMa' with us on Earth Day, April 22nd for an evening of fun, learning and appreciation of our home planet at 393 Broadway in Soho. We will gather for an immersive screening of Netflix's latest documentary series Our Planet, from the creators of the award-winning series Planet Earth. In partnership with World Wildlife Fund, Our Planet explores the unique and precious wonders of our natural world and combines stunning photography and technology with an unprecedented, never-before-filmed look at the planet’s remaining wilderness areas and their animal inhabitants.

We will warm up the night with a movement meditation and immersive soundscape led by Dotan Negrin of Sonara Sound, who will lead us into a chat with a forward-thinking SUPERHUMAN 9-year old Zayne Cowie and his sister, who was recently featured in the New York Times for his children’s book for grown-ups called “Goodbye, Earth!'

Enjoy a planetary snack bar featuring locally-sourced greens from vertical farming company Dream Greens by AeroFarms, popcorn from LesserEvil Snacks cricket granola from Seek Food, locally grown spirulina from We Are the New Farmers, GT's Kombucha and more.

AND THERE'S MORE! We will be raffling off a special prize to all ticket holders - a goodie bag including a 5-plant Urban Jungle from Horti and a cricket culinary cookbook from Seek Food.

A portion of proceeds from our evening will go to one of Zayne's favorite climate action organizations, Extinction Rebellion.

Dress Code: Comfy, sustainable and if you feel called - your favorite PAJAMAS!

The Future of Protein

Protein is a staple of modern-day diets, and has gained major attention and interest with the rise of dietary trends like paleo and ketogenics. However, food production, and industrial meat in particular, faces major challenges as we move into the future: our global population is expected to rise to 9.5 billion by 2050, which may require up to a 61% increase in food production.

This increasing demand begs the question of how society will sustainably feed future generations, especially in the urgent wake of climate change. There is a silver lining: alternative protein startups are using new ingredients and technologies to develop creative sustainable protein sources with minimal impact on the environment.

Join us for a lively conversation with three companies offering unique perspectives on the future of protein, and learn how insects, algae and cellular agriculture will contribute to our plates along with some of our modern favorites. Powered by we are SUPERNATURAL.

The World Inside: The Deep Science of the Human Microbiome

Seeded since birth, there is a vast, diverse and mysterious community of 38 trillion microorganisms living inside and on top of us. The vast majority of these microorganisms are bacteria in our gut. Contrary to centuries of popular belief, our microbiome is essential to our health, acting as gatekeepers of the outside world, digesting our food, regulating inflammation, and synthesizing key vitamins, metabolites, and neurotransmitters, and so much more. Join us for a mind and gut-nourishing evening with three leading experts on the human microbiome: Miguel Freitas, PhD of Danone, Dr. Michael Gershon, author of The Second Brain, and Ara Katz, Co-CEO of seed.  Powered by we are SUPERNATURAL.
